His epitaph is Athanasius contra mundum, meaning “Athanasius against the world.”  Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International.  When sharing your faith, if someone says they don’t believe that Jesus is God, they are denying the Trinity and it’s not a new argument.  Athanasius, a 4th century theologian, fought the heresy that God, the Father, begat the Son, implying there was a time when Jesus did not exist.  But Athanasius understood that Jesus was fully God, co-equal – always existing with the Father.  Why did it matter?  Because only one who was fully divine had the power to pay an infinite penalty in a finite moment.  So, tell a friend that you believe Jesus is the Son of God, that He came from Heaven to earth, lived a perfect life and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and now offers us eternal life as a free gift.  Athanasius spent 17 years in exile for affirming what we can proclaim freely.  For more witnessing tips and tools, visit ShareLife.today.
