You can be a True Patriot… posted by EE USA on Jun 26, 2017
As we celebrate the Fourth of July holiday, we understand that liberty and freedom is the birthright of every American. That belief comes from our Judeo-Christian heritage – a belief for which many have fought and died.
2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” This Bible verse talks about another freedom – a freedom that only God can give, a freedom from the chains of sin through Jesus Christ. The ideal way we can honor that gift of freedom is to be Christ’s witnesses.
But how do we begin?
The first step is found in the words of the prophet Micah, “to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly before our God.” Most Americans, religious and secular alike, would agree that these actions alone would alter our nation’s social conscience.
Then we, as Christians, can take it a further step by introducing someone to Jesus Christ, where true freedom and liberty can be found. Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), to break the chains of the captive (Isaiah 61:1), and to set us free (John 8:36). That is truly Good News!
The most patriotic thing we can do is to win our neighbor to Jesus Christ.
