Prepare for take off posted by John Sorensen on Jan 08, 2019
How many times have you heard, ‘please fasten your seatbelts and prepare for takeoff?’ I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, for Share Life Today. In flying a plane, one of the most difficult things is takeoff. In Evangelism, the first step is the hardest – getting acquainted and making friends with the soul to whom you’re trying to witness.
Building a friendship is essential to effective evangelism. When we genuinely care for the person we’re talking to, our approach changes. We witness out of a real love and concern for the person we’re talking to. Walking up to someone and saying, ‘are you saved?’ probably won’t get the response you want, and would more than likely end with ‘get lost, buddy!’
Take time to get to know the person who you would like to see meet Jesus. This approach will be easier on both parties, and will lay the ground work for more opportunities than if you had no relationship at all.
This week we’re talking about making friendships for the Gospel. Listen everyday on Sharelife.today for more. Visit Sharelife.Today.
