“Catching” Evangelism posted by John Sorensen on Nov 02, 2016
Evangelism or witnessing “is more caught than taught.”
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International. You might be wondering what I mean by that – how do we “catch” witnessing. Well, we’ve all heard sermons preached on our responsibility to witness. But, after you left the service, did you share your faith with someone? Now, please understand, I’m not criticizing. But rather making the point that this is where “evangelism is more caught than taught.” Jesus told the disciples, “Follow me and I will make you to become fishers of men.” Jesus did on-the-job training and modeled, for the disciples, how to share the Gospel. And that’s how they “caught” evangelism. I just saw this proved once again on my recent trip to Zambia where experienced witnesses lead brand new witnesses in on-the-job training. And as those new witnesses began participating in sharing their faith, they “caught” evangelism and all the excitement that goes with it. Need help sharing your faith?
