Do You Really Believe… posted by jwatson on Oct 11, 2013

Do you really believe…..?

I recently experienced this question while watching the Truth Project. In chapter two of the series, Dr. Del Tackett asks:

Do you believe in the omnipresence of God?

My gut reaction was: of course I do! But Del pressed further. Do you really believe in the omnipresence of God? “Of course I do”, I emphatically stated. But then I thought to myself; do I really live like I believe this?

The next words I heard hit me like a ton of bricks.

How would your life change if you truly believed God was with you every moment of your life?

I must confess. If I truly believed in God’s omnipresence, it should be a whole lot harder to sin.

Think about it: the God of all things created is in every moment with us. When you eat, sleep, work and drive. When you are lost in the crowd and your moments of complete solitude. Scripture says it this way:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”(Deuteronomy 31:6)

I particularly love Deuteronomy 31:6. It doesn’t just say that God is just with us but it tells us to be strong and courageous because God is with us.  Take a moment to reflect on the truth that God is with you as you read this. The magnitude of truly believing God is omnipresent should change our lives. It will affect every aspect of our lives and there in lies the struggle of this life.

I can’t answer the question for you and frankly I can better relate to Paul’s sentiments in Romans 7:15. But I cannot live a life of half devotion and I hope you can’t either. I am asking that the men and women who are reading this will resolve to live their life truly believing that God is omnipresent.  Will you join me? If so, start with a small commitment today by emailing me at [email protected].

Romans 7:15

15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.
