I recently read a story by the Baptist Press that a Louisville pastor has busted the myth that door-to-door visitation is out of vogue and no longer effective.
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International. Now, as the head of an evangelism ministry we see churches all over the world using door-to-door evangelism as part of their everyday outreach, so I gotta tell you that I’m not surprised. But I’m glad that Louisville Pastor Mark Bishop is helping get the word out. You see, he’s been knocking on about 200 doors a week for the last six months and he’s seen church attendance triple to nearly 300 and has baptized 37 new believers. He believes in front porch evangelism and says, ”In this electronic age, people are shocked that I would take the time to stop by their house to talk to them in person.” And isn’t that what the Great Commission is all about — going and talking to people wherever we find them?
