EE Congress of Nations posted by jwatson on Oct 16, 2013
I wish you could have been there. I wish you could have seen the parade of flags as 63 nations came together to worship God and praise Him for all He has done! You would have heard the testimonies, been part of the prayers, felt the passion of those gathered there, and you would have seen that you are part of a family. . . a family dedicated to the fulfillment of the Great Commission of Jesus Christ!
We were gathered for one purpose: to equip believers to multiply in and through local churches worldwide. It looked and felt like an evangelical United Nations gathering. Yet no United Nations gathering has ever been for a more important purpose. I was once again amazed by God’s grace and your support for this incredible event in Cape Town, South Africa, the second EE Congress of Nations.
In a world where two-thirds of the population will wake up without knowing the Lord, we believe the EE Congress of Nations is part of the solution. Our desire is for these 63 EE nations to join together to change this frightening statistic.
Would you join me in this endeavor through your prayers and gifts? Your partnership reaches these nations. Your faithfulness encourages me as I see God working in and through the EE ministry around the world.
However, the reality we are currently facing is a funding shortfall. The end of the calendar year nears and we need to catch up on our giving goals. But we know God is always faithful and here is good news!
A faithful supporter has pledged a $200,000 Matching Challenge Fund. Every dollar given up to that amount by midnight on December 31 is doubled! Your help is needed at this critical time.
Although at least one person was trained in EE in every nation in 1996, that was just a beachhead. A firm planting of Gospel ministry is needed to truly penetrate those nations.
These 63 nations, ones we call “multiplying nations,” met a series of criteria marking them as self-governing and self-supporting with a vibrant EE ministry. Through these 63 nations, our goal is to double to more than 120 nations! By doing this, the reality is, by 2016, every nation on earth will either be an EE multiplying nation, or adopted by one. Then our mission of every nation equipping every people group and every age group to witness to every person will be realized.
My heart fills with thanksgiving that what God started through D. James Kennedy’s desire to reach the world for Christ in 1962 continues more than 50 years later.
During the Congress, a testimony was shared about a prison in South Africa where every inmate must go through the EE training before being paroled. Why? Because statistics show that the national recidivism rate (those who return to prison after being released) is 70 percent. In sharp contrast, inmates who complete the EE training lower the recidivism rate dramatically to 2 percent!
After completing the EE training and being released, former inmates get plugged into a church implementing EE, and become productive members of society.
I would love to see every inmate in the U.S. go through the EE training before being paroled. Testimonies like this help us to think outside of the box on a worldwide scale to better our efforts and change more lives for Christ. Our global efforts to empower the nations to spread God’s great Gospel are working!
And that is the main thing. Your prayers and gifts to the EE ministry help us conduct training that impacts lives for Christ and assists us to keep EE ministry moving forward as the end of our calendar year nears.
Right now, we have a wonderful opportunity to double your giving to the EE ministry through the $200,000 Matching Challenge Fund. Every dollar you give to EE up to that amount is doubled when you give by midnight, December 31. It is critical that we make this match. You can continue to help build Christ’s Kingdom around the world and double the impact.
In Colossians 2:6-7, Paul writes: “So then, just as you received Christ as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
During this month when we celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving, the EE staff and I are overflowing in our thankfulness to you. Thank you for your partnership with us in the Gospel. And thank you for giving now to help us twice as much during this calendar year-end Matching Challenge Fund.
In His service,
Dr. John B. Sorensen
President
P.S. In appreciation for your financial partnership of $35 or more, and upon request, I would like to send you a hardback copy of the new book Great Gospel Words, by Dr. James F. Engle, a blessed friend, pastor, author and mentor, who serves so faithfully as an EE Teacher Trainer and now as an EE Board Member. Great Gospel Words takes single syllable words and uncovers deep truths behind them and how they impact your life. Each word, even those that, on the surface, seem minor, serves as a reminder that “all Scripture is breathed out by God.” By tracing these words through their usage in the Bible you will discover how they link directly to the Gospel and can transform your life. With your gift of $35 or more, and upon request, I will send you this wonderful book once it is released near the first of the year.
