Eugene’s Story posted by John Sorensen on Dec 09, 2013
Young Eugene, who attends a public school in Cape Town, South Africa, was called into the principal’s office for wearing the EE “question mark” pin on his uniform shirt. Such expressions were strictly prohibited. Would this result in detention, suspension or worse?
“Eugene, what is this all about?” the principal asked sternly. Without batting an eye, Eugene responded, “Sir, it’s all about the two most important questions you could ever answer in your life!”
Eugene then asked the principal the two EE diagnostic questions. The principal was not annoyed. He was INTERESTED! Eugene shared the entire Gospel presentation with the principal who prayed with him, making a profession of faith in Christ! Awestruck by Eugene’s knowledge of the Gospel, the principal declared, “Eugene, I have never heard the Gospel explained with such clarity and order.”
Working with Eugene and leaders from the Hope for Kids ministry, the principal instituted the Hope for Kids training school wide!
Eugene’s story is inspirational. As president of this ministry I could share many more like it that would thrill your heart; stories of prisoners truly set free, marriages saved, addictions conquered. Isn’t it incredible what happens once people are equipped with the Gospel? There is no holding them back!
For more then 50 years, Evangelism Explosion has been training people to share this story in every country on earth. With your help, this message can continue to resonate around the world like never before in our history.
As I mentioned in my November letter, a faithful friend of the EE ministry has pledged a $200,000 Matching Challenge Fund. Every dollar you give by December 31 up to that amount will be matched and will double the impact for the Gospel. The deadline draws near. Your gift is critical so we can secure every dollar of the match, meet our calendar year-end budget and continue to spread the Gospel with every ounce of our energy.
Currently, we still remain far short of meeting the match. The urgency is great.
Because of partners like you, young Eugene made a huge impact for the Gospel of Jesus Christ—and as I stated earlier, kids in a public school in Cape Town are being equipped with the Gospel. Will you help EE multiply that boldness by equipping millions more young and old? Let’s keep the Gospel multiplying. I need your help before the year ends. Thank you for whatever you are able to do!
Your in His service,
Dr. John B. Sorensen President
P.S. I have a wonderful gift for you when you give a year-end gift of $35 or more by December 31 toward the $200,000 Matching Challenge Fund. Upon request, and when it becomes available after the first of the year, I’ll send you a hardback copy of Great Gospel Words by my friend, and EE Board Member, Dr. James F. Engle. Great Gospel Words takes single-syllable words from the Bible—“God-breathed”—and demonstrates how they can radically transform your life. If you already sent in a gift toward the Matching Challenge Fund I am deeply grateful. It will impact many lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
