Fake News vs. Real Good News posted by John Sorensen on Jan 14, 2019
You’ve probably heard over the course of the last couple of years a lot of…well, fake news. Things can get blown out of proportion or swept under the rug. It’s easy to hear something in the media and think, “Okay. They definitely exaggerated that story!” Or “there’s no way it really happened like that!”
Well I am here to tell you some real news – good news! Every single sentence in the Bible, it’s all true! Every word! And you, as a believer have been entrusted with spreading that word.
This world certainly needs the light and love of Jesus Christ. We can’t raise our voices and point fingers, telling the world it’s wrong and expect any real change to happen.
Where can we start with spreading this Good News? What will convince the person who doesn’t believe in our Heavenly Father that He is a kind and gracious God? The answer is your story!
There was a time when you didn’t know God, either. Think back to that time in your life. What changed? Chances are, it wasn’t an angry Christian yelling at you, but it was probably a loving Christian sharing the story of Jesus.
Ultimately, it’s the kindness of the Lord that draws us to repentance, and sharing how God has been so kind to you will surely attract the nonbeliever to the Gospel.
Your testimony doesn’t have to be some earth-shattering Damascus road, ‘I saw the Light’ moment to be used by God.
In Revelation chapter 12, the enemy is defeated by the blood of the Lamb and, get this, the word of our testimony! Your story is powerful and Jesus can use it to bring others to saving faith in Him!
During my very first semester in EE, a lady named Gwen was in the class. She told us her story didn’t matter; it involved the loss of her granddaughter. She said it would never be significant, though. Well, during our second On the Job Training, we were knocking on doors. One door opened to the home of lady who had lost her precious granddaughter that very day. It was only because of Gwen’s story that we were able to come in and share the Gospel. Just like Gwen, your story matters.
This is good news, isn’t it? We have a loving God who cares enough to write our story for us so that we can share this news with the world around us! Don’t take this for granted! You can work on cultivating your testimony to share with others by visiting ShareLife.Today. You can also read stories from other believers who have been changed by the Lord!
This is our focus this week at Evangelism Explosion through our social media channels and our daily broadcast.
Visit ShareLife.Today for resources and tools to help you share your story and bring people to Jesus!
May God richly bless you this week as you share your story!
