Why is it that people say, “Never discuss religion or politics?”
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International. The obvious answer is because such conversationscan cause conflict and it can be especially challenging to talk to people about spiritual topics. But as believers in Christ, Mark 16 verse 15 tells us to go into all the world and preach the good news. So, the most generous, loving thing that we can do is to inquire with the people in our lives about their spiritual convictions. But how do you get started? There are several ways, but here is one question that I think works well. Ask your friend, “What gives you the most meaning in your life?” A question like this might just give you the opportunity to share your own testimony. For another example of how to engage in a spiritual conversation, you can watch my interview with a couple who have a unique outreach using a dartboard and a questionnaire. Anyone can do it and we’ll even provide some questionnaires. Just visit our website at ShareLife.today.
