Goal to Witness posted by John Sorensen on Dec 31, 2018

Do you make New Year’s resolutions each year? If you don’t, why not? A lot of people hesitate to make resolutions because they’ve failed to follow through so many times in the past, it just doesn’t seem to be worth the initial effort. You don’t want to be disappointed, so you just don’t set any expectations.

Maybe you’ve taken this same attitude and applied it to your own faith. You’ve messed up so you can’t be an effective witness or you’re not sure where to start, so it’s easier to keep to yourself instead of putting yourself, and your faith, out there.

Well, I knew a guy who had the opposite attitude. Instead of saying, ‘I can’t witness,’ or ‘I don’t know what to say,’ he set crazy goals every year to witness and lead people to the Lord! Tom led me to the Lord, and since then, he led thousands to Jesus. He set a goal of leading 1,800 people to the Lord one year, and made it! Now, this is all Jesus – don’t get me wrong – but Tom’s obedient heart allowed him to be used mightily by the Lord.

Another man I know set a goal to lead five thousand people to the Lord. Guess what? He did it! How he did it is really special, though. He made this goal, and realized in order to accomplish sharing with that large of a number, he had to do something other than his daily routine. He started a prison ministry in Tampa, Florida just so he could reach more people for Jesus! What an amazing testimony of faithfulness and trust in Jesus!

So, what’s the moral of those stories? The moral is that in order to reach their goal, they had to change their behavior. They could not reach those numbers doing what they always did. The same is true for you.

What do you need to change in order to lead someone to Jesus this year? You may be thinking that it’s too hard or not your area of giftedness. You don’t have the resources. Well, do you know what you do have? The Holy Spirit! So why don’t you set a goal this year to lead one – just one – person to the Lord?

Jesus says in Matthew 10 verse 20, ‘for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.’ Trust Him to guide you!

Christian Author and Pastor, Dr. Gene Getz says that it’s the responsibility of every Christian (that includes me and you) to pray, share and give. Let’s commit today to pray for opportunities to share the Gospel give to Kingdom work! If each Christian would share their faith with just one person, and that person shared their faith with just one, so on and so forth, then the entire world could hear the Gospel of Jesus! What a glorious day that would be!

How can we reach the world for Christ? It starts with one person. Let that one person be you.

This is our focus this week at Evangelism Explosion through our social media channels and our daily broadcast.

We will be giving away a tract to help you get started. This is a great tool to pair with your testimony! Visit ShareLife.Today for resources to help you share the love of Jesus!

May God richly bless you this week as you resolve to witness in this new year.
