Center for Christian Statesmanship interns

Each year Evangelism Explosion’s D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship (CCS) in Washington, D.C. recognizes one outstanding public leader as a Distinguished Christian Statesman. This year’s award will be presented to the Honorable Joseph R. Pitts, representing the Sixteenth Congressional District of Pennsylvania. Representative Pitts is a godly man who exemplifies the meaning of “Christian statesman.”

Those who have won this prestigious award in the past include Senator John Ashcroft, Senator Sam Brownback, The Honorable Kay Coles James, Ambassador Dan Coats, Representative J.C. Watts, Representative John Hostettler, Representative Marilyn Musgrave, Representative Mike McIntyre, Representative Mike Pence, Representative Randy Forbes, and Representative Trent Franks.

Another important CCS summer event is our five-week Capitol Hill internship program. This is a special time when college and graduate student interns join EE and The Center to reach out to the Members of Congress, Congressional Staffers and Congressional Interns.

The Center is a haven of spiritual support to seasoned Members of Congress, first-term newcomers, staff members, and interns. The Center’s staff shares the Gospel, mentors, educates, and encourages without asking for anything in return. The Executive Director of The Center is Dr. George Roller, a full-time missionary to our nation’s capital.
