Joy to the World posted by John Sorensen on Dec 23, 2019
When was the last time you celebrated something? Was it a birthday? A promotion? A retirement? Well, what about Christmas? When was the last time you celebrated the birth of Christ?
You’re probably thinking, ‘Are you crazy? Last December 25th. That’s when!’ But did you really celebrate? We’ve been given this Joy to the World! Yet, we get caught up in the busyness of the season – the gift buying and cooking and events – that all too often, we forget Who we are actually supposed to be celebrating.
If your joy is gone from this Christmas season, let me encourage you to celebrate what Jesus has done for you and this world. While you’re being bombarded with advertisements telling you to participate in the season of giving, take a moment to celebrate the greatest gift that has ever been given – Jesus.
Jesus truly is the greatest gift we could ever receive, so look for opportunities to share that gift, especially this week. Share how He’s given you irreplaceable joy and undeserved grace. Can you imagine leading a loved one to Christ this week? Talk about a joyous celebration! Ask the Lord for opportunities to do just that.
Let me leave you with this from Luke 2:10-11…“But the angel said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: Today a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, was born for you in the city of David.’”
A Savior was born for you. That is the greatest news this world will ever know, and that should produce great joy. Pass it along this week and have a very joyful, very Merry, Christmas!
