Have you ever started a conversation with someone and the person turns away or looks at their watch?

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International. We’ve probably all experienced that at some point and maybe we’ve even been the one who’s bored wishing we were somewhere else. When sharing the Gospel, it’s important to use your eyes to listen – yes that’s what I said, use your eyes to listen – to the other person and how they are responding to what you are saying. We don’t want to just talk at someone. It’s easy for us to be sharing this wonderful news and then suddenly realize that we’ve been the one doing ALL the talking. So, remember to include your friend in the conversation by asking questions. Then, listen carefully as they talk so you can respond to their statements – not just prepare for the next thing that you’re going to say. For example, before you talk to your friend about Jesus, ask them the question, “Who would you say Jesus is?” They’ll probably tell you good things about Him that you can build on.
