New…and Never to Grow Old posted by jwatson on Dec 29, 2015
“In God’s great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3). The word “new” is never more important than when it precedes the word “birth.” The new birth ushers in new life with new purpose and a new destiny. This is the only “new” that never grows old!
As we embark on 2016, here is a reminder of the newness that we possess, and grow into, as a result of the new birth. This is a “Bible list” informing us who we are based on the word NEW!
If you have been redeemed from the bondage to sin by the blood of Christ, adopted as a son or daughter into the family of God, then…
· …you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
· …having experienced the new birth (1 Peter 1:3)
· …so that you are a new person (Colossians 3:10)
· …given a new name (Isaiah 62:2)
· …living a new life (Romans 6:4)
· …with a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 18:31)
· …under the new covenant (Luke 22:20)
· …instructed by a new teaching (Mark 1:27; Acts 17:19)
· …enlightening your new mind (Romans 12:2)
· …empowered by the new way of the Spirit (Ezekiel 11:19; Romans 7:6)
· …possessing new strength (Isaiah 40:31)
· …exhibiting a new attitude (Ephesians 4:23)
· …following a new command (1 John 2:8)
· …receiving new mercies every morning (Lamentations 3:23)
· …looking forward to residing in a new heaven and new earth (Isaiah 65:17)
· …where you will have a new body (Phil 3:21)
· …living in a new home (John 14:1-3)
· …forever and ever singing a new song (Revelation 5:9)
This list really makes “Happy New Year” a rather trite phrase.
