How do you respond to people who raise this objection: “I don’t believe in the Bible?”
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International. One thing to avoid is a combative attitude. But on the other hand you don’t want to back away passively either. There are many logical answers for the authenticity of the Bible beginning with hundreds of biblical prophecies that were fulfilled. But here’s another response to consider. Since they told you that they don’t believe in the Bible then we can assume that they have read it. So ask them what they think the Bible teaches about eternal life. Invariably, they’ll give you a “works” answer – meaning – I live a good life, I try to be kind to people and so on. At which point, you can tell them that that is not what the Bible teaches about how a person gets to Heaven and ask them if you can share with them what the real answer is?
