Children are the future of the church, aren’t they? One day, they’ll be able to advance the Kingdom if we can invest in their future, right? Wrong.
Here’s the flaw in what I just said: Children aren’t the future church, they ARE the church. Right now. God can use anyone, no matter their age to advance His Kingdom and spread the Gospel.
Here’s what’s true: we do need to invest in children. It’s our job to teach and equip the next generation to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Remember when Mary and Joseph lost Jesus for three days? You may be thinking your parenting skills are looking pretty good right about now, compared to that! Well, what was Jesus doing? Even though He was a child, He was ‘going about His Father’s business.’ Children are so important! Children can change the world around them for the better.
Let me tell you about a young man named Travis, he grew up in the projects in Chicago around gangs, drugs and violence. He was in the middle of it all and he said he thought that was just life. It was just the way it had to be. At 14 years old, he learned about Jesus through EE’s Hope for Kids and thought, ‘what am I going to do with this now that I know?’ People immediately saw a change in his life – he got out of the gang he was a part of, and even witnessed to the other members! He was scared they would hurt him, instead, they just asked questions about his decision! From then on, Travis began sharing the Gospel on the streets.
God can change any life, anytime, anywhere, so let’s equip our children to do His work! Investing in a child’s walk with Jesus means making an impact far beyond your life and into eternity. Pass the Gospel, and how to share it, along to the next generation. They need to know how so they can share Jesus right now!
This is our focus this week at Evangelism Explosion through our social media channels and our daily broadcast. Visit ShareLife.Today for resources to help your church get involved with Hope for Kids, to raise up the next generation to spread the Gospel! May God richly bless you this week as you pass the Gospel down to the children around you.
