PICTURES OF EVANGELISM #2: FEET posted by Yuen Woh Voon on Dec 28, 2011

The Apostle Paul asked rhetorically, “And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?” He then quoted Isaiah 52:7, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
God gave us feet to walk in order to move from one location to another. We were meant to be on the move to extend our boundary and to move into a higher realm. If we wish to love people, to care for them, we must move towards them. God Himself is a God who walks. Adam and Eve heard the sound of the LORD God “walking” in the garden. In the New Testament, the Lord Jesus left His heavenly abode, and “walks” among the seven churches. In contrast, many idols are depicted as either sitting, standing or even sleeping.
God gave us feet to walk in order to bring the good news of salvation to a lost and dying world. When we obey God this way, we have “beautiful feet.”
Many years ago, I had the privilege of sharing the good news of Christ’s salvation with an elderly lady in another part of our city. In response, she wept tears of repentance and was filled with joy. She then kissed my hands in appreciation. Perhaps she should have kissed my feet! Surely my feet were more responsible than my hands for being there!
I live in Malaysia and share my faith most of the time here. Sometimes, however, I get to travel abroad. I still remember the first time I shared the gospel with someone whilst abroad. Amber was a young lady in Taiwan and she happily prayed to receive Christ. Years later, I was privileged to share with another elderly lady in London who also prayed to receive Christ.
More recently, I shared the gospel with a Filipino engineer who sat next to me on a flight to Manila. He was returning home to the Philippines after an overseas assignment. He also prayed to receive Christ. I was really touched when we bade each other farewell. He held my arm tight and said, “I’m really glad it was you who sat next to me on this flight.” How wonderful it is to be able to experience God’s blessings wherever our “feet have walked.” (Joshua 14:9)
When describing the full armor of God, the Apostle Paul encourages God’s people to have their “feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15)
How are your feet today? Ready for some serious walking? Many are waiting to hear the good news that Jesus saves!
