Some of the most pleasant words in the English language are, “You are right!,” which also suggests that some of the most unpleasant words are, “You are wrong.”
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International. This is a principle we can use when we’re sharing our faith in Christ. Let’s say you ask a thought-provoking question such as “What would you say to God if He asked you why He should let you into Heaven?” And your friend’s response is, “Well, because I’ve been a good person,” and then you respond back, “Well, I hate to tell you but you’re dead wrong. That response may bring a quick end to your Gospel conversation.
Instead, respond in a way that tells him or her that they’re neither right nor wrong , like this: “You know after hearing your answer to the question, I know I have some really good news for you!” Saying it with great enthusiasm will generally produce an enthusiastic response on the part of the listener and lead to a Gospel conversation.
