Search and Rescue posted by John Sorensen on Feb 19, 2019

It was cold, dark and scary. They didn’t know if they would ever see their families, or even sunlight, again. It’s cold in a cave. Even colder when you can’t see around you and the uncertainty of ever being able to get out looms over you. No one should have to be in this situation, much less a bunch of young boys who were just out hiking with their friends. You’ve heard this story, haven’t you? For more than two weeks, all of the world watched in horror and hope as a search and rescue team fought their way through flooded caves in Thailand, to bring the Wild Boars soccer team out into the light and into safety. I believe that those boys and their coach look at life a little differently now – and they’ll probably never go out hiking in another cave again.
You know, our Christian walk is the same. Before Jesus, we were in utter darkness – despair. If we really took the time to think about eternity, we were probably overwhelmed with fear. Until one day, the Holy Spirit did a search and rescue with your heart, and you accepted. You see, without the Lord Jesus leaving all of Heaven to come down and rescue you and I, we would have never seen the light! Our salvation required the God of all Creation to seek us out.
How did He do that for you? Do you remember needing rescue? Do you remember how you felt when you finally grabbed a hold of Jesus’ hand as He pulled you to safety?
Was there a team of people that the Lord used in your life to lead you to Him? It really does take a village, doesn’t it? Whoever helped bring you to Jesus was a part of the Lord’s search and rescue team for you!
How can you do this for someone else? Be a part of God’s rescue team in the lives of nonbelievers. They need someone to reach out and pull them to safety! How can you do it? Well, we have resources available to you on ShareLife.Today to help you share about the rescue found in Jesus.
If you’ll visit whatsmystory.org, you will find story after story of folks just like you who have been rescued and are now sharing their faith in Jesus with others! I know it will be a great encouragement to everyone who reads them. You can share your story there, as well!
This is our focus this week at Evangelism Explosion through our social media channels and our daily broadcast. We’re focusing how the Lord seeks and saves us – and how we can seek out the lost, too! May God richly bless you this week as you’re trained to share the Gospel with our world.
