The most famous poem in all of literature is found in the Bible. You can probably guess it’s Psalm 23. It begins, “The Lord is my shepherd…”
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International. This week we’ve been focusing on the biblical picture of the Shepherd and the sheep. So, today we’re stopping in Psalms 23 which is authored by one of the Lord’s sheep – King David. In it, he highlights the Shepherd’s protection. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” The rod and staff, likely just one instrument, is used by shepherds to guide and protect the sheep. Protection from wild, ravenous predators in search of a sheep dinner. Our Good Shepherd who saves us also provides continuing spiritual protection. So, you can share your faith with confidence knowing that Jesus, the Good Shepherd who sought us and saves us also protects us. If you missed any of this week’s illustrations, you can listen to them on-line at ShareLife.today.
