Shepherd-Sheep–Seeks Out posted by John Sorensen on Feb 21, 2017
This week we’re focusing on the biblical picture of the Shepherd and Sheep. Yesterday we focused on “Gone Astray” and were reminded that we all, like sheep, have gone astray…turned to our own way…wandering…lost.
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International. Sounds sort of forlorn, doesn’t it? Well, it could be, except that the Bible tells us that God is the one who takes action and comes looking for us. “Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and will seek them out.” These words from Ezekiel 34 teach us that God has taken the initiative with us because we don’t even know we’re lost. Jesus’ parable about a shepherd leaving the 99 sheep to find the one wandering sheep is a vivid picture for us. And it’s the very essence of evangelism to proclaim to our friends and the strangers we meet that God is seeking them out, so that they might respond and be born again.
