Some call them illustrations.  Others label them object lessons.  We call them… helpful!

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International.  In the EE Gospel outline, we’ve discovered that illustrations are very helpful in explaining the Gospel to others.  So, when we talk about GRACE – we explain that Heaven is a free gift, it’s not earned or deserved, because the Bible clearly states that: “The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Most people, however, think that getting into Heaven is somehow achieved by our good works, as a kind of payment to God as our “entrance fee.”  And that’s where the “Friend’s Gift” illustration comes in.  We use it to help people grasp that just as we don’t pay our friend for the gift they give us, we don’t pay God for the gift of eternal life that He offers.  To see a video of the Friend’s Gift illustration, visit our website at ShareLife.today.  Then, I hope you’ll try it with a friend.
