Witnessing in the 21st Century posted by John Sorensen on Feb 18, 2020

Do you think evangelism still works? You know, it’s really sad, but a lot of people don’t. I’ll tell you from experience, though, it does work. Do you know why it works? Because the Gospel is the power of God to save – it has nothing to do with our power, passing trends or political viewpoints. We can be encouraged that our God never changes and neither does the Gospel!

There’s no expiration date on the Great Commission. Jesus said in Matthew 28, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” That means you and me, here and now! He will surely go with us as we’re obedient to share with others.

So, how can we start? First, by praying. Every aspect of our outreach efforts should be thoroughly covered with prayer from the beginning to the end and everything in between.

Next, get out and engage people in conversation. We cannot share the Gospel if we don’t first open our mouths and speak! And you know what? It really doesn’t take much to engage someone in a spiritual conversation. Start by talking about your day, your job, daily activities…and ask about theirs. Really listen to them. Ask how they’re doing spiritually. If you listen prayerfully and carefully, the person you’re talking to will know you care and will not feel like you are shoving religion down their throat.

The Gospel is meant to be shared, so no matter the changing times, the Gospel is one thing we can all count on. He wants to use you to bring people closer to Him – what a privilege we’ve been given to take the Gospel into our culture!

This is our focus this week at Evangelism Explosion through our social media channels and our daily broadcast. Visit ShareLife.Today for resources to equip you to share your faith.

May God richly bless you as you share Jesus with everyone around you!
